The book

Are you an artist? Are you interested in studying art? Do you want to know what drives the art market? Or do you simply want to know how to become a successful artist? From the first-hand experience of a world-renowned artist (N.N.), this book gives you a deep insight into the art world and reveals how you can become successful yourself.

Also available in German. Original title “Alles für die Kunst”.

The two authors got together with a world-famous artist and asked for some advice. From these conversations – supplemented with input from fellow artists, gallery owners, collectors, and curators, as well as their own rich experiences in the art world – this book was written.

It is the first book that analyzes the art system from the inside out and gives you all the necessary knowledge for your career as an artist in a clearly structured form.

“This book is not recommended for romantics, and definitely not for professional romantics.” — an international curator

It’s not a conventional how-to manual, because it doesn’t try to motivate as many people as possible and make them happy. But neither is it a classic textbook that regurgitates existing knowledge. Rather, it is a pioneering work, written from the active artist’s perspective of an insider. It is written with the aim of providing the reader with an overview of the current art system that is as comprehensible, structured, and objective as possible. It tries to be helpful and practical without ignoring the fact that success eludes many artists not because of a lack of talent but because of a lack of compatibility with the current art system.

“The bad news first: The art world is a utopia. The good news: If you become part of the system before you give up or go insane, life in this utopia is pretty good.” - Quote N.N.

Two German versions

A novelty! In the German language there exist two versions of the book: One in which all forms are in the masculine, and one in which all forms are in the feminine.

Why did we decide to do this?

In no way is it meant to be ironic or even cynical. We decided on the two language versions because we would like to see the German language reformed in the future.

For us, our chosen approach is clearly in the tradition of political art. It doesn't solve the problems, but it points them out. And as usual with works of art, in the end it's a matter of taste whether you like it or not

"If Mark Rothko's painting is misinterpreted, it is not because of Rothko, but because of the viewer's unwillingness to want to understand it." - Quote N.N

The German reader is free to choose either the feminine or the masculine version.

The authors

Tizian Baldinger is a Swiss artist, thinker and entrepreneur.

He has traveled halfway around the globe, not only gaining experience in the art world, but also, as a silent observer, always trying to form his own picture of the world. He has spent longer periods of time in Los Angeles and Berlin; he has studied art in Hamburg and in Hangzhou (China) and graduated from the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg.

Through his diverse fields of interest, but also through his first-class education in computer science, economics and marketing, he tries to understand the world as a universal and interdisciplinary thinker. In his works as well as in his texts, he processes his thoughts and is able to show connections that have received little attention so far.

Timon R. Böse is a historian, art historian and author from Berlin.

After a brief detour into Indology, he studied history and art history in Berlin and Geneva. As head of marketing and exhibition curator, he became active in Berlin's art scene immediately after graduating in 2006, starting out in one of the city's largest exhibition houses. While overseeing many projects with illustrious personalities and partners during the day, including those from Australia, Zimbabwe, Israel and North Korea, at night he immersed himself in the world of boozy artists in Berlin crash bars. Böse publishes a variety of books, but continues to work full-time in Berlin's international and exceedingly surreal art scene. He has an intimate love-hate relationship with his run-down hometown and makes it the setting for many of his books.

N.N. – unfortunately, we are not allowed to say who it is.

Busy and anonymous superstar of the global art scene. A name that everyone in the art world knows. She or he (not even the gender is mentioned here) has many years of experience, exhibitions worldwide and could contribute a lot of insider knowledge to this book.
